An i7 930's max temp is 67c (on Intel's website), so why, on forums, do people say that 75C at 4ghz is safe?

I've read in many reviews that a Prolimatech Megahalems Rev B cooler has amazing performance so how can an I7 930 still reach 70-80C when overclocked!!!???

The Intel website is referring to the Tcase or case temperature - measured at the outside of the processor.

Enthusiasts are refering to the Tcore or core temperature - which is the hotest spot inside the processor. It's kind of like the difference between the temperature of a fireplace and what you measure on the couch. Cores are the "heating elements" of the processor and must run much hotter than the case will ever reach.

The maximum Tcore can reach on an i7 processor is 100C. At that point, the processor itself will automatically begin throttling back to avoid burning up.
