Why do I still love my ex boyfriend (not the current ex, but the one before that)?

so my ex-exboyfriend critter and I were in love and well i was going through somethings (cutting) and he said he didn't want to be with me because he loved me too much to see me hurting myself. Then, like 2 weeks later, I skipped school to be with him and we had this amazing day. We were back together. We talked about "our" future children and made a plan that when I turned 18 we would get married and I would move to indiana with him and his family. That was the happiest day of my life. then it turns out his parents were going through a nasty divorce and he had to go back to indiana. Months go by and no word. I was distraught. then I started dating someone else 4 months later. 6 months after that he came back. I wanted to tell him so much that I wanted to be with him, but I had my then boyfriend and I don't cheat. 3 yrs after seeing him come back, I still love him. I am single now, but he his now in texas with his sister. It's been 4 yrs since I was with him. Why do I still love him?

He's in your mind and you've already made memories with him. It sounds like the relationship didn't end in too bad a note, since he wanted to break it because he didn't want to see you hurt yourself (he actually cares).

It seems like you're too attached to your previous memories with him; planning a future with him or what not.

It's been four years, people can change a lot, or in ways you might not be able to imagine.

I say that you should try to move on and try to isolate his existance in your life as your 'first love' / 'boo'. There are other people out there, but what has past has passed.

If you were going to stay with him, what would happen? Would you move to Texas with him? Would you try to have a long distance relationship? I think you should re-examine reality and put your needs [not fantasies] first.

Love will find you, and if it is meant to be, then something will happen in the future. Work on the you today, and try to focus on your life. Maybe there's a guy waiting to bump into you in a town nearby; or maybe he's going to relocate around where you live.

Life just happens. But try not to live your life full of hopes and dreams that may not happen.

//Not to say hopes and dreams are bad, but keep them realistic (sounds like a paradox).

Live your life trying to accomplish goals...
Like saving up for a house or try on a new hobby to meet new people.
