I want a Charleston (SC) themed wedding...any ideas? suggestions? What about a "cutsie saying"? HELP!
Charleston SC is the heart of the low country...a real carolina girl/boy kinda place....monograms, polka-dot inspired clothing....etc... there are nearby beaches...seafood is a major entity of the city...my fiance and I met there..while attending the College of Charleston, and we wanted a Charleston themed wedding without being in charleston! HELP!
What a beautiful idea! It is very original and the best part is that it is special to you and your fiancee. Being from the upper northeast (PA.) I have never had the pleasure of visiting Charleston but it sounds beautiful. Congratulations to you both :0)
Here are a few suggestions/tips I found for a Charleston, SC theme wedding.
1. Ferns are such a popular plant in the steamy hot South, which is why they make a fun and unique Southern wedding favor. You can find tons of mini ferns already potted at your local home improvement store, the nursery, and even the grocery store.
Ferns come in huge selection of styles, so choose 2 or 3 different varieties to create interest on the wedding reaction favor table.
Take each potted fern and tie a ribbon around the pot. Most likely this will be removed later, but this touch of color is the perfect way to add a touch of yoru wedding color to the whole favor.
Tie the ribbon on in a bow, then slip on a note card of tanks and finish by tying the ribbon in a bow.
2. Part of the charm of a city like Charleston, SC is the preserved architectural details, the old buildings, and even the historic paint colors you will find. It really is like walking into a bit of history.
So, capture a bit of this nostalgic charm and Southern hospitality with a little architectural detail of your own.
This can be accomplished in many ways. You can use key chains with architectural detail. Check local tourist shops for these.
Another fun idea is to take photos of the city of Charleston and capture the details on film. Now, print these out on mugs, postcards, or any other small wedding favor you think your wedding guests would enjoy.
3. Ok, this one is a great Southern wedding favor. Southern cities like Charleston are well known for their good cooking and sweet tea. So, why not use Southern cooking kits as a wedding favor. You can sue southern spices, grits mix, or even corn bread mix!
Nothing is more Southern than cornbread or grits! Do this on a small scale, using on the dried goods. Your guests can add water at home! Take your favorite southern food and package it in a way perfect for a wedding favor your guests will not forget!
