What do we need for our foreign exchange student's room?
Okay, we have the basics: bed, dresser, desk, linens, towels. What other things do we need yet before he arrives? Here's my list of what we might yet need to buy:
- clock radio
- laundry hamper
- night stand
- trash can
Anyone have any other thoughts as to what he might need or like to have in our home? (He has his own laptop.)
where is he from? he may come from a culture that is used to doing things a certain way. if he is from japan house slippers are almost mandatory, if he is from a muslim culture then he may need a prayer area. what kind of foods is he used to eating? if your cooking is totally foreign to him he may starve until he gets used to the culture shock. be ready to explain some unusual domestic customs, there have been cases of japanese students in the u.s.
