How to prevent color bleeding onto other clothes?

I got a new blue scarf and I wore it for the first time with a white shirt and when I took the scarf off there were blue marks on the shirt right where the scarf was. The tag says dry clean only and it is made of 95% viscose and 5% lurex. Any suggestions on how to prevent the scarf from turning my entire wardrobe blue?
