what is the best weekend to spend in Mardi Gras?
I want to spend a week down in mardi gras and I want to plan my flight, hotel, agenda, ect. when is the best time to go down there. I was planning 1/30/09 - 2/07/09.
Well, being there for the last part of Mardi Gras is your best bet -- that way you get to experience some of the larger, more popular parades: Bacchus, Endymion, Orpheus etc. -- they take place during the last 4 days.
Have you been to New Orleans before? None of the parades actually take place in the French Quarter, but you might want to stay there anyways and experience the craziness there like a true "tourist", yet head over to where the majority of parades roll ("Uptown") and pretend to be a "local".
