What is the most ideal music production hardware/software combo?

I have reason and ableton with the Akai MPK25, what other software or hardware do you recommend

I have used a combination of an iMac, Garageband/Logic, CueFX with a MOTU UltraLitemk3 as the input controller for guitars/bass, vocals and keys. Make sure you have enough RAM and processing power or your recording will suffer from latency issues.
